TEACHER TRUTH: Non-Fiction Text Features was never my favorite thing to teach! That has all changed since I started doing text feature surgery, it is now hands down one of the most fun and memorable days of the year! This is such a fun and engaging lesson for students (fabulous for formal observations as well) Here is what is included:
Here is where you will find an interactive OR prep free version of what text features your student “doctors” will come across during surgery
NON-FICTION TEXT FEATURES INTERATIVE NOTEBOOK
If you are anything like me you LOVE a good interactive notebook!
ANCHOR CHART/FLASH CARDS
Text features names and their definitions….perfect for an anchor chart!
List of everything your doctors will need to know before they begin surgery
PATIENT SURGERY CHARTS
Students will use these patient surgery charts to determine what the patient needs to help them feel better. Students will cut and glue from magazines the text feature that matches the patients symptoms. They will then write the correct text feature on the RX clipboard.
PATIENT POST-OP REPORTS
Students will fill these charts out post-op to show what they have learned about non-fiction text features!
There are both digital as well as printable copies and brag tag for medical school graduation! I hope your students fall in love with this unit the way mine have!
