This file contains 28 pages of materials that can be used in your classroom to help you implement the NGSS. It contains the final NGSS performance expectations (standards) for 4th grade physical science, life science, earth & space science, and engineering that can be posted in your classroom as learning goals. They are color coded and written in the "I can" format.
It also contains the eight science practices that the Next Generation Science Standards focuses on. (Again, used as classroom goal posters.)
I have included my NGSS science practices checklist, which is broken down, first by practice, then into each of the components of the practice that students are expected to master at the end of the 3-5th grade band. (Our science department finds this really helpful- we pass it along to the next grade level team at the end of the year- so they can see what areas may need work for the next year.) I included this in both color and black and white.
Finally I included a checklist for all of the NGSS 4th grade performance expectations. I have been using this checklist to help me ascertain which standards I need to develop further and which my students have mastered.
I hope this helps you as you begin to implement the NGSS. If you have any questions or issues please feel free to contact me.
