Aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), this packet introduces students to some basic trends and uses for the periodic table. This packet is designed for students to work through autonomously. The packet allows students to learn basic periodic trends and uses in an inquiry-based assignment. This walk-through introduces the students metals, metalloids, and nonmetals. It reveals that columns indicate the valence number of electrons, defines atomic number and atomic mass, and how to draw the correct electron arrangement for example atoms. It briefly introduces the concepts of ionic and covalent bonding.

I have used it for students who are brand new to the Periodic Table, and also as a review for those who have already been familiarized with the Periodic Table.
