    NGSS Fifth-Grade Assessments

The bonus file includes a FREE set of Science and Engineering Practices Task Cards

Resources include slideshows, informational text reading passages, science labs, science centers, response pages, and an assessment for each strand of NGSS fifth grade. See previews of individual units for full contents.

I have several science bundles for fifth grade.  Look carefully at the contents of each to make sure it is the right bundle for you.  This one just includes science resources and does not include my science reading units for fifth grade. If you are looking for that one see 5th-Grade Mega Bundle With Reading Passages If you are unsure of which science bundle to purchase, contact me at lywilliams1@gmail.com and I will be happy to assist you and answer any questions.

This bundle and the included assessment covers life science standards, earth science standards, physical science standards, and Engineering Design standards. My resources are aligned with the three dimensions of NGSS and use the Science and Engineering Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Disciplinary Core Ideas. My resources also start with phenomena to engage the students.

This bundle does not include my distance learning resources. This is a printable unit. All parts of this resource, including the slide shows, are secure and not editable.  This is for copyright reasons.

Follow me on TPT and get news of my new resources.  Each new resource is discounted by 50% for the first 24 hours!

The bonus file includes a FREE set of Science and Engineering Practices Task Cards

    Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
    NGSS5-LS1-1
Support an argument that plants get the materials they need for growth chiefly from air and water. Emphasis is on the idea that plant matter comes mostly from air and water, not from the soil.
    NGSS3-5-ETS1-2
Generate and compare multiple possible solutions to a problem based on how well each is likely to meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
    NGSS5-PS1-1
Develop a model to describe that matter is made of particles too small to be seen. Examples of evidence could include adding air to expand a basketball, compressing air in a syringe, dissolving sugar in water, and evaporating salt water. Assessment does not include the atomic-scale mechanism of evaporation and condensation or defining the unseen particles.
    NGSS5-PS2-1
Support an argument that the gravitational force exerted by Earth on objects is directed down. “Down” is a local description of the direction that points toward the center of the spherical Earth. Assessment does not include mathematical representation of gravitational force.
    NGSS5-ESS2-1
Develop a model using an example to describe ways the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and/or atmosphere interact. Examples could include the influence of the ocean on ecosystems, landform shape, and climate; the influence of the atmosphere on landforms and ecosystems through weather and climate; and the influence of mountain ranges on winds and clouds in the atmosphere. The geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere are each a system. Assessment is limited to the interactions of two systems at a time.
