This two-week writing assignment is aligned with Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core ELA/Literacy Standards. My students really enjoyed researching for this project because they chose to focus on a disease that affected someone close to them. It was great for them to see how the systems are connected. They found that disease, illness and injury are not confined to one system.
I included the calendar I used in my classroom but left the dates blank so you can personalize it for your classroom. My students were busy researching, writing and collaborating for two full weeks!
The writing rubric is based off of the SBAC Informative/Explanatory Rubric and our school's 1-4 grading system.
