From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes
Food Molecule Reactions Worksheet with Key. One Page.
Worksheet to check for key understanding of subject matter. Can be edited for younger or older students.
Not designed as a project to design or construct a model.
Define chemical reaction.
Within individual organisms, food moves through a series of chemical reactions in which it is broken down and rearranged. How does this process benefit the organism?
6 CO2 + 6 H2O –> C6H12O6 + 6 O2 is a reaction showing photosynthesis. Illustrate how many of each atom and of what kind is in the reactants and products.
How does the human body turn food into useful energy?
Most biochemical reactions work best at the normal body temperature of 98.6˚F (37˚C). Why?
Enzymatic browning is when a fruit like a banana turns brown. If you store the product in an environment without any oxygen, the reaction cannot take place anymore. How could you slow down or stop this reaction?
