This activity has students rotating between five stations that have them investigating different types of measurements, and the usefulness of quantitative data.
Activity Center #1
Students find the mass of four objects using a triple beam balance.
Activity Center #2
Students find the volume of four objects using a graduated cylinder.
Activity Center #3
Determine the mass and volume of four density cubes, and then use these measurements to get the density of each cube.
Activity Center #4
Collect four different samples of water and find the temperature of the water in each sample using a thermometer.
Activity Center #5
Students trace their hand on a piece of paper. Measure the space between the joints on each finger. Convert centimeters to inches.
