More than a "definition-style" organelles quiz - get middle school kids thinking beyond memorized definitions!
2 versions, & keys included!
This 20-question quiz has two parts. In Part One, students are provided clear, simple diagrams of plant and animal cells and must identify the individual organelles and identify their functions. Part Two has multiple choice questions that mimic how standardized tests ask about this topic, each designed to get kids thinking beyond memorized definitions.
Although the diagrams have all the typical organelles, the focus of the quiz is on the organelles stressed by NGSS (cell membrane, cell wall, nucleus, chloroplast, mitochondria, chromosomes, vacuole) and the major differences between plant and animal cells.
Two versions of the quiz are provided. They have identical questions, but the answer choices are in a different order. So, the quizzes appear to be identical but will have different answer keys. Wandering eyes will see a quiz that looks like their own, but has different correct answers.
