    In this YEAR-LONG kindergarten NGSS bundle, your students will become researchers, scientists, and engineers.     In this unit, students will:

    Collect and analyze data from daily weather journals to look for patterns
    Plan and conduct investigations (hands-on!) to explore the effect of the sun on Earth's surface
    Explore different types of severe weather and its effects through text, photographs, and media
    STEM: Engineer a shade structure for a small toy
    K-PS2-1 and K-PS2-2
    Explore pushes and pulls with hands-on activities
    Plan and conduct investigations on the effects of different types of pushes and pulls
    Use cause and effect to analyze and interpret data from investigations
    Participate in STEM challenges to develop engineering skills
    K-LS1-1 and K-ESS3-1
    Obtain information and analyze data to identify patterns about the needs of desert and wetland animals
    Plan and conduct investigations (hands-on!) to identify plant needs
    Obtain information from text and photographs to understand how different animals and plants are a part of the rainforest system.
    K-ESS2-2 and K-ESS3-3
    Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information from multiple sources (text and photographs) to understand how plants and animals change the environment.
    Engage in argument from evidence
    Explorecause/effect relationships between things humans do and how that impacts our Earth
    Discover ways in which the plants and animals are a part of a system
    K-2ETS1-1, K-2 ETS1-2, and K-2ETS1-3
    Plan, design, and test different models of paper fans to determine the most effective solution (as measured by a cotton ball race)

    Materials needed for Classroom in Motion: Pushes and Pulls
      •plastic cups, straws, and yarn

    Materials needed for Classroom in Motion: Racetracks and Targets
      •small balls (marble, foam ball, tennis ball, ping pong ball, etc.)
      •materials for "barriers" (blocks, books, bins, etc.)
      
    Materials needed for Classroom in Motion: Collisions
      •small balls (marble, foam ball, tennis ball, ping pong ball, etc.)
      •teddy bear counters
      •materials for a ramp (small white board, hardcover book, piece of cardboard, paper towel tubes, etc.)

    Materials needed for Living Things Investigations  
      •4 flowering plants
      •radish seeds and potting soil
      ***If unable to get materials, photographs are provided so that students can still analyze and interpret data to look for patterns in plant needs.
