Have fun and get messy making paint with students to explore the science of color. This is an arts integrated science and ELA learning experience, and aligns with several arts, NGSS, and Common Core standards.
In this three-five day learning experience, students explore the relationship between binding agents and pigment in the creation of watercolor and tempera paints, observing how the properties of the binding agent impact the product and the mood of the resulting painting.
I accessed prints from the National Gallery of Art. The link to the directions for making egg tempera can be found by searching online. Definitely have extra eggs on hand :)
