2016-2017 Reading logs are a great way to motivate your students to read at home which builds fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. But of course you already know that! This is the EASIEST way to build those skills holding your students accountable for their reading at home while taking up very little of your valuable time. Only one copy per student per month is needed. The directions are on the log…recommending 20 minutes per day Monday through Friday with makeup days on the weekend if needed with an overall of 100 minutes per week. Parents simply initial each day’s minutes, then total the week. On the back, there’s room for students to list book title(s) they’ve read and write a 3-4 sentence summary about one book. Grading is simple: 100 minutes or more of reading for the week and no errors in the writing equals 100%. You can take a weekly grade or an average for the month. You can also track minutes for award levels. You’ll find your students paying more attention to capitals, periods, and spelling as you take points off for this. This is also a fantastic tool for both student and parent conferences! One year I stopped handing these out after the state exam. I had parents tell me to please send them home again as their children were no longer reading. Yep, it had that much impact! This package includes all 12 months from August 2016 through July 2017 both front and backs. Each month has a different clip art. Thank you for considering this product and best wishes for an extremely successful year!
