NO PREP Kindergarten / 1st MATH BOOK "My Book of Tiles"
Students create an addition book of math facts as they learn to compose and decompose numbers using colored tiles.
Composing and Decomposing Numbers 5 – 10 with Square Color Tiles
NO PREP! Just print off and let students explore the different combinations to make a number!
Students create 2 colored tile
arrangements using the number of tiles at the top of the page. Tiles must be connected either by sharing a side or a corner.
1. Build it.
2. Draw it.
3. Write the addition number sentence.
Great for class discussion to review the many combinations to make a number!
Create AMAZING ARRANGEMENT BOOKS to go along with INVESTIGATIONS:
4.1 Six Tiles in All
4.2 Quick Images
4.3 Arrangements of 5 to 10 Tiles
You do not need to use INVESTIGATIONS program to complete this activity! COMMON CORE ALIGNED!
If you do not have square tiles, I included a page with colored tiles that can be cut out. You may also use cubes instead!
My kids LOVED making these arrangement books! We did the first two pages together, and they did the rest independently! This makes a great MATH CENTER activity once students understand the concept!
