A great way for your class to end the week! This lesson prompts students to write their own "flash-forward" scenes for their lives after listening to an excerpt from a fun time-travel adventure novel. The excerpt, discussion prompts, writing worksheets, and listening comprehension questions are included.
All you need to do to each this lesson is:
1) Make copies of the worksheets for your students.
2) Read the lesson plan aloud.
3) Have students complete the activities.
Along with having a lot of fun, your class will also be covering 5 different Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.R.7 is covered when students use a book’s cover image to make predictions about the story.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.SL.2 is covered when students listen to the prologue of a time travel novel as it is read aloud.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.R.5 is covered when students review story structure elements, specifically the terms "prologue" and "flash-forward."
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.SL.1 is covered when students discuss their opinions about flash-forward sequences with a classmate and the entire class.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.W.3 is covered when students write a flash-forward sequence of their own lives at an imagined point in the future.
