This FUN and COLORFUL first day of 4th grade packet includes 5 different fun and engaging activities for students on their first day of school, along with the first day task cards and a following the directions QUIZ to get students thinking about classroom rules and procedures. I love using this quiz because students LOVE/HATE the fact that they think they will ace the quiz but in reality, everyone fails!!! This will lead into a classroom discussion about rules thus will be creating our classroom rules for the new school year together.
~Front Cover: Coloring Page
~First Page: Meet Your Classmates Activity
Students have the chance to go around the room (within a given time frame if you'd like, or can be a competition to see who finishes first) to find a classmate that has one of the criteria and they sign their name.
~Second Page: FIRST DAY Task Cards!
These task cards are placed around the room for students to move about the classroom with a partner and answer them in the designated spots on their page!
~Third Page: All About Me, Myself & I
Students have the chance to personalize their own INSTAGRAM page!!!! Each box has it's own hashtag stating what the student must draw in each box. The hashtags also come with a key in case students (or you) don't understand the lingo ;)
~Fourth Page: Math Bingo
Okay I gotta incorporate some math into the first day! This page has 15 (easy for incoming fourth graders) math problems along with a blank bingo sheet on the same page. All you would need to provide is markers to be placed on the bingo tiles if you plan on playing more than once... or students can just cross out the box instead to make it easier! Students solve the problems first then place them randomly inside the squares. Teacher calls out the answers! First with bingo gets a surprise!?!
~Fifth Page: I Spy With My Little Eye...
I included this page for the early finishers! If students are already done with their All About Me page or solving the math problems before Bingo starts... then this is the page they turn to! A-Z activity for students to do quietly at their desk. :)
I printed them all out in color and stapled them and the final product looked WONDERFUL!!! Such pretty colors! :)
