This fun body system lesson covers the structure and function of neurons and the role they play in the nervous system. Lesson includes close reading passage covering neuron function and anatomy, wrap up questions, and a coloring sheet. The coloring sheet is formatted both as a standard quiz and as an interactive notebook page. The included quiz is perfect for a quick test of reading comprehension over an informational text. You also get a folder with downloads of the fonts I used to create the lesson! They are free for all uses, so you can use them in personal lessons and lessons you post on TPT! All teacher keys are included.
This lesson was created for middle school and early high school students and is a great review or introduction to the nervous system and neurons. I created this lesson to review my students prior to standardized testing. I’ve noticed from released test questions that neurons tend to be tested more frequently than other cells since they are so unique, and lend themselves to “tricky” questions.
This lesson is complete and ready to teach today! All you need to do is make photocopies!
Highly engaging, high level thinking activities make this lesson great as introduction or a fun review for standardized testing. Concepts covered include body systems, nervous system, neurons.
Approximately one period in length. As a point of reference I teach a 50 minute class and generally complete the close reading, wrap up questions, and the interactive notebook coloring sheet in one day. Created by Mister Science.
