Tired of plain old reading logs? These weekly reading logs will help students track their reading while practicing reading comprehension skills for both fiction and non-fiction texts. Use them for nightly reading homework as a way to assess if students are actually reading and understanding what they've read.
There are 34 different reading logs, 22 fiction and 12 non-fiction, that help track and assess student progress on a variety of reading comprehension such as:
- Making predictions
- Recognizing story elements
- Making connections to another text
- Defining the main idea
- Asking questions before, during, and after reading
- Comparing characters
- Making inferences
- Setting a purpose for reading
- Identifying character traits
- Author's point-of-view
Each page has four boxes for four nights of homework (Monday-Thursday) but you can also choose to use this to monitor reading in the classroom. Because there is no required "parent signature" box, it really helps my students take responsibility for their learning!
