Expanding sentences with prepositions is an activity used to work on concepts while increasing mean length of utterance. The picture and sentences can be used to target the following sentence structure: Noun/Pronoun + is verb-ing + prepositional phrase. Students are prompted with a where question. I then have them drag the correct preposition into the sentence. I will have them practice the sentence. They can check their answer when finished.
Visual cues are given to elicit verbal productions without needing a direct model from an adult.
Prepositions included in this lesson:
On,Under, Out,In,Between,In front of,Behind,Beside,Above,Over,Across,Through, Against,Down,Up,Near,Far,Around,Off,Toward
This activity is no print/no prep. It can be used in a teletherapy session/platform. It works perfectly within a large/small group classroom using an interactive whiteboard! Students can access this lesson on a tablet, smartphone, or computer.
