Description

No Print Speech

Teletherapy

Distance Learning Speech

This product is a NO PRINT product and was designed for use on an iPad in iBooks or on a computer.

Design and Purpose: This product was designed to address the initial consonant R sound and ONLY the initial consonant R sound. One of the things I find frustrating when working on the consonant R sound is to have materials that also have words with vowel-controlled R sounds. It’s so hard for the SLP in me to not address that vowel controlled R even though I know that’s not the focus of my lesson at the time. So, I designed a product that comes as close as possible to eliminating the occurrence of vowel-controlled R sounds. The words, phrases, sentences, and reading and responding passages in this product contain NO vowel-controlled R sounds. The only times you will see a vowel-controlled R will be in the instructions and on the rhyming word clue pages (which are not to be read by the students). The focus is consistently on the initial consonant R sound.

This product takes your students through production of initial consonant R in words, phrases, sentences, reading, spontaneous speech responses, and offers numerous opportunities for conversational practice through discussion of the subjects covered within the reading passages.

Specific activities include:

25 initial R word rhyming tasks

25 sets of initial R words presented in groups of three words in a series to be used in auditory recall

20 short reading passages sound-loaded with initial R words, each accompanied by four story comprehension questions that are designed to elicit multiple initial R words within the responses

In addition to being a great resource for practice of the initial consonant R sound, this product may be used with students with language impairments to address: Rhyming, Auditory Memory, Listening or Reading Comprehension.

Download the PREVIEW to see examples of each task.
