This packet was designed for use on an iPad or computer and allows you to address articulation of S in a variety of activities including:
Initial S Rhyming – Students are given a word and must think of a target word that begins with S and rhymes with the given word. The student makes a guess then taps the candy jar to see if his/her answer is correct. Also provided are a phrase and sentence using the target initial S word. Twenty-five initial S words are targeted.
Medial S Rhyming – In this activity students are given three words, each containing a medial S sound. The student must find the two words that rhyme. The student clicks ‘Check your answer’ to see if he/she is correct. Also provided are a phrase and sentence using the two rhyming medial S words. Twenty-five medial S words are targeted.
Final S Rhyming – In this activity the student is given three words, each with a final S sound. The student must find the two words that rhyme. The student clicks ‘Check your answer’ to see if he/she is correct. Also provided are a phrase and sentence using the two rhyming final S words. Twenty-five final S words are targeted
Initial / Medial / Final S Recalling – In this activity the student will read, or listen as the SLP reads, three words containing the S sound in initial, medial, or final position depending on the section you select. Click ‘NEXT’ and one word in the series disappears. The student should recall and state the three words, including the missing word. Click ‘Check your answer’ to see if the student is correct. This section is designed to elicit production of 75 words with S in the initial position, 75 words with S in the medial position, and 75 words with S in the final position.
Responding – In this activity the student can read, or listen as the SLP reads, a short NONFICTION passage. Each passage is followed by four to five questions designed to elicit S words contained within the text. Twenty NONFICTION reading passages are included.
The Responding section is great not only for articulation practice, but also for comprehension, vocabulary, and general knowledge.
