Students learn to write a narrative conclusion. This product includes a Powerpoint, Lesson Plans, ORIGINAL Stories, and MORE!
Included are original stories (without the conclusions so students can write them), the author's conclusions (so students can compare), exit tickets, etc. This product has everything you need to teach a lesson on Writing Conclusions.
In this lesson, students will be taught to 1) wrap up the writing, 2) maintain the tone and point of view, and 3) unfold the sequence logically.
For differentiated instruction, students will be challenged to use dialogue and sensory language.
What makes this product unique? All stories are original (written by Kim Kroll).
The first (on the PPT) will be used as an example with the whole class. The last four stories will be passed out to individual students. Students will use their creativity and skills learned to pen the conclusion.
Once every student has finished, Jigsaw groups will form to share the conclusion they wrote, voting (secret ballots!) on their favorite.
Next, the other groups will read the story with the original conclusion (written by Kim Kroll) and the winning conclusion, noting similarities as well as giving constructive criticism on how to make the conclusion better.
Included in the EATS plan is the Essential Question, Teaching Strategies, Exit Ticket, and several worksheets.
I think you will find this lesson to be be very effective. My students enjoyed having the first part written for them- so they could focus solely on the conclusion. And they LOVED comparing their endings to my endings.
