This unit includes cards using 3 real pictures as examples of a person, a place, and a thing. Once children gain an understanding for what makes a noun, there is a mini book that allows them to draw and write the word for the person, place, and thing of their choice. The last worksheet can be done as a whole group or independent workers can use this as a center activity by looking at pictures to find nouns.
I've also used this work with young first graders. I use the worksheet by doing a "Noun Hunt". Each child gets a clipboard and a worksheet and we tip toe around the school to hunt for nouns. As each child finds a noun, they sound it out and circle whether that noun was a person, a place, or a thing.
