This is a set of all three worksheets for the three different episodes of the Making North America series done by PBS NOVA. They are all viewable for free on PBS's website. The worksheets have questions in the order they appear in the videos so that they can be filled out by students while watching the videos. Origins Episode: This video covers the formation of the North American continent starting with the original formation of land on the planet. The video covers plate tectonics, the various continents that have existed throughout Earth's history, the rock cycle, earthquakes, and volcanoes.
Life Episode: This video covers the evolution of life of the North American continent. It covers the earliest examples of life, dinosaurs, the asteroid impact, and the rise of mammals. It explains why dinosaurs in North America are so diverse compared to other places around the world. It also explains why there are no indigenous primates living in North America today other than humans.
Human Episode: This video covers the settlement of North Americans by humans starting with the first Siberian Ice Age hunters. It explains how the geology of North America shaped its settlement by humans. It covers the lives of the first Native Americans, tobacco planting by early colonists, the gold rush, oil production, and the future of the continent.
