November Songs

Use these welcome, months, days of the week, weather, and focus songs during November Calendar time. Print two to a page or project on a screen.

November Focus

Post the focus letters (Jj-Mm), numbers (5-6), color (yellow), shape (rectangle), and sight words (that, it, he, was) to introduce and review during the month of November.

November Calendar

Includes a November title, editable year, and date cards with an AABB pattern. Yesterday, today, tomorrow, holiday, birthday, and special day inserts are also included.

November Workpages

Print and laminate these pages. Have learners trace the dates on the November calendar, complete the All About Today page daily and review the Calendar Focus page.

Counting to 40

Practice counting to 40. Cut, tape, or glue and laminate as a single strip. Look for patterns in the number line.

Initial Sounds

Have learners match the turkeys by their letter and picture with the correct initial sound. Do one set or a few each day during the month of November.

Ask questions to obtain information about the purpose of weather forecasting to prepare for, and respond to, severe weather. Emphasis is on local forms of severe weather.

Use and share observations of local weather conditions to describe patterns over time. Examples of qualitative observations could include descriptions of the weather (such as sunny, cloudy, rainy, and warm); examples of quantitative observations could include numbers of sunny, windy, and rainy days in a month. Examples of patterns could include that it is usually cooler in the morning than in the afternoon and the number of sunny days versus cloudy days in different months. Assessment of quantitative observations limited to whole numbers and relative measures such as warmer/cooler.
Write a letter or letters for most consonant and short-vowel sounds (phonemes).
Print many upper- and lowercase letters.
Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words. (This does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or /x/.)
