PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This workbook develops the strategy of COUNTING ON or COUNTING BACK for mastering NUMBER FACTS. It has three parts:
1. Concept Development - WORKSHEETS
2. Skill Building - SKILL BUILDING CARDS
3. Consolidation and Real World Applications - TASK CARDS with ANSWERS
+ FUN STUFF - Maths Riddles

The first part is designed for 1:1 or small group work for those students who need to DEVELOP THE CONCEPT of counting as an addition strategy. The essential prior skill is counting on or counting back from any intermediary point between 1 and 100.

Part 2 comprises SKILL BUILDING CARDS with 30 algorithms for semi-independent work.

Part 3 comprises 32 TASK CARDS for independent work APPLYING the math to the real world. Answers to Part 3 are provided and there are some addition fun activities in the form of MATH RIDDLES for you to use how you choose. They should appeal to your fast finishers and could easily be sent home for homework.

This is a complete package which allows you to differentiate and cater for all ability levels. I explicitly teach this strategy for adding or subtracting 1, 2 or 3, as many children use counting on or counting back for EVERY number fact, and it has been proven to be less effective from 4 on. There are other strategies that are more efficient.

Playing games adds the motivation for students to learn these number facts and I have different ones that might appeal in my store:

Up)
- Goldilocks Counts Back and Little Red Riding Hood Takes Away
