I developed this Workbook for my students who need lots of variety to learn the doubles facts. I only teach intervention now so I draw on my 30 years experience to identify the most effective ways that kids learn.
This Workbook is my contribution to those teachers who want a product that is motivating but also differentiated so they can accommodate all the ability levels in their class. I learnt the importance of this when I had 26 students from 5 years to 12 years old in the same class. This workbook is the kind of resource I would have used then.
You can add the games to a Maths Centre for everyone, and you will find your more able students will want to play as well because the game element is fun. Mixing ability levels is a great idea. Put the posters up for extra support for those students who need it. I even give some of my students the Facts Sheet on Page 3 if they really need this level of support.
The Task Cards increase in difficulty and I have incorporated an extension level to stretch your more able students as well. Pop these into your Maths Centre, but stipulate where you want different students to start. There is an Answer Sheet for student recording.
You could copy the Workbook for groups who then work through it at their own rate. Alternatively, you can copy the worksheets and administer them as a whole class activity. Either way, the Answer Book provided allows you to encourage student independence as they can correct their own work.
