This product contains
- 3 sets cards (29 cards in each set - see PREVIEW for different formats used)
- Directions to play DONKEY
- COON CAN card game with directions
Each set of cards uses the numbers 1 to 21 and the tens numbers 30 to 100 (29 cards in all). The same numbers and values are in each set.
I play DONKEY most of the time, but I have included the COON CAN game because some of my older students want a longer and more strategic game. The DONKEY game is quick (1-5 minutes) and you can use it for a few minutes at the beginning of an intervention session to target specific skills, and the COON CAN game takes longer and takes more strategy.
The choice of numbers in this set is deliberate because I often have to teach the distinction between the teens and tens numbers. This set does it nicely and a game of DONKEY reinforces the skill in subsequent sessions. I find this skill deficit can persist for years unless it is taught explicitly and consolidated.
I have included this set with the 1-21 set as a discounted bundle if you wish to go that way. Both sets complement an early intervention program effectively. You could also add either set to a Maths Centre when teaching the related concepts and they would consolidate the skills in a fun way.
