Another way to use Differentiated Instruction in your Engage NY Common Core curriculum!!
This product ties into Grade 4, Module 1 Unit 2 Lesson 6 where students are introduced to the anchor chart for "Writing Quality Paragraphs". If you are getting tired of using just plain anchor charts with plain writing on them, you can use these materials to create a visual anchor chart for students to see.

This includes 4 printable cards that have important criteria for writing a paragraph. (The paragraph should be indented. Writing should include a topic sentence that states the main idea. Writing should have at least 3 sentences that tell more about the main idea. Paragraph should conclude with a sentence that explains why the topic matters.)

It also includes a sample paragraph written exactly the same, 4 different times. On each of the paragraphs, one of the criteria is highlighted for students to see that particular criteria in use. (For example, one paragraph will have just the topic sentence highlighted and another paragraph will have the concluding sentence highlighted).

There is also a smaller version of the materials (criteria cards and paragraph cards) for you to print multiple copies of and cut out. Students can work independently or in small groups to match up the criteria card with the paragraph card demonstrating that specific criteria.

I created this for my AIS reading/ELA groups to provide them with additional materials to understand what is being taught in the modules. We are using this with our fourth grade co-teaching class but it can be used in 2nd grade, 3rd grade and with Special Education students as well!

This is a lesson that 100% can be used by any teacher that is teaching about writing quality paragraphs, not just with the Engage NY curriculum!
