The year just began but sooner than we know it, NYSESLAT season creeps up on us!
This is a very simple, straightforward rubric for the Speaking section of the NYSESLAT that I use with my students when practicing.
Depending on the level of the question, students can receive up to 1-2 points with what they say. However, I challenge my students to provide expanding or commanding-level responses for every question.
When using the rubric, it also helps to highlight the conjunctions and transition words.
Familiarizing my ELLs with this rubric has helped enormously with the quality and quantity of their responses!
