This resource contains the following:
✔ 2 versions of the name mats in full color and black and white
✔ Printable letter squares
✔ Photo sizing template (for version 2)
✔ Step-by-step directions
The editable template works for names containing 2-12 letters.
This resource contains two different versions of the name activity mats. Both versions are available in a black and white ink-saving option. Each mat provides multiple opportunities for kids to learn their names. Version 1 highlights the beginning letter of the name while Version 2 highlights a photo of a child. The photo sizing template will help you print a square photo at the appropriate size for the name mat (version 2). The photo sizing template is provided in both Microsoft Word and Google Docs format.
It only takes minutes to add names to all the name mats. All you have to do is type your kids' names into the class list form.* The names and letter will automatically transfer to the pages. A print planner page makes it easy to determine which pages to print. Step by step directions are included.
*The class list form has room for 24 names. Use the form as many times as you need to customize mats for larger numbers of children.
***You will need the most recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader (it's free) to edit this resource. The photo template is available in both Microsoft Word and Google Docs. formats.
The name mats provide the following opportunities for learning:
First Letter Square (Version 1): Kids can name the first letter in their names, say the sound of the letter, finger trace the letter and/or trace the letter
Photo Square (Version 2:) Kids can identify their name mat or a classmate’s name mat with the picture.
Dotted Name Space:Kids can trace the name. To help beginners you can use a marker to make a dot on the starting point.
Outline Name Space:Kids can trace the name, color the name, or rainbow write the name. They can fill the name with play dough coils, beads, small erasers, buttons, etc.
Blank Space: This is a blank space where kids can use letter squares (included with this set), magnetic letters, letter rocks, letter beads, etc. to build the name. They can also write their name or imprint stamps into play dough to create the name. If you do not laminate your name mat, kids can stamp their name or use stickers to create their name in this space.
