This is a great, easy activity for your kiddos to do as an easy introduction to a new school year!
I have used this during my open house when the kiddos drop off their school supplies the day before school starts. There are typically a couple of forms that I ask the parents to fill out that night, so this is a good activity that the kiddos can do mostly independently with little or no guidance from their parents while they fill out paperwork.
I have also sent this home as homework the first day of school. A colleague of mine would also send them in the mail to her kiddos before school started.
Once the kiddos have brought them back completed, I like to mount their paper on construction paper or cardstock, laminate, and bind it into our first class book. We read it aloud as a class, each child reading their own page, as an easy get to know you icebreaker.
It’s always fun for them to look back later on in the year. I also keep it in my class books library for future classes to enjoy.
