2 Complete games
This game reinforces the shapes of the states. Game 1 includes Alabama – Missouri. Game 2 includes Montana –Wyoming. Both sets include the United States.
Each game includes 25 unique color bingo cards, 25 black and white bingo cards. Three options are included for the calling cards. The most difficult set includes only the state’s shape in color or outlined, the next set gives a clue, the name of the state capital, with the shape or outline, and the final set shows the shape or outline and gives the state’s name with the shape. All of the calling cards are in color and black and white. Also included is an outline of the United States for a study sheet, a list of states and capital cities, and a template for cutting squares to cover the answers, if you wish to use it.

Distribute a card to each student. Distribute a small handful of items for covering the spaces called (for example the included squares cut from the template, other pieces of paper, math manipulatives, cereal, candy, etc.).

Display a card, read the clue, and/or give the state name. Students cover the correct state name on their Bingo card, if it occurs. When 5 spaces are covered in a row, column, or an a diagonal, the student calls out “Bingo”. The student must read back the cities covered in order to check their correctness. A new game begins as long as time permits, if time permits.

The pictures on the Bingo cards represent famous locations in 12 states. It would be a fun challenge for students to discover the states. (Denali – Alaska, Golden Gate Bridge – California, Dodge City Sign – Kansas, Fort Sumter – South Carolina, Gateway Arch – Missouri, Delicate Arch – Utah, Hoover Dam – Nevada, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – Ohio, Crater Lake – Oregon, Pearl Harbor – Hawaii, Mount Rushmore – South Dakota, and Chimney Rock – Nebraska. I have included a worksheet for students to write their answers.

After its introduction this could be a fun indoor recess game.
