This is an oral language activity that can be done with pupils probably in the junior/middle grades. An image of an object with a particular attribute is on each card. The pupil is then asked to name three things with a similar attribute.
Initially, the pupil can simply name the required three items. However, the more you do this activity, the pupil could be required to speak some more about the three items they have mentioned and the reasons why they mentioned them.
The teacher could also ask questions about the items chosen. The aim is to develop fluency of thought, speech and delivery.
There are 40 cards in this resource, four per A4 page. They should be printed, cut out and laminated. They should then be put into a box and pupils pick a card at random. This could be a suitable game for Circle Time.
