Looking for an easy to follow flowchart to help your students apply the various naming rules for ionic, acidic and covalent compounds? This is one of the hardest first year chemistry topics (along with stoichiometry) and the usefulness of this simple, visual, graphic organizer of the naming rules is high!
✦ This is available in my resourceful costs-savings Naming Bundle ✦
I've lost count the number of times I've found myself reminding students which elements are metals... which elements don't have variable charges... The reference sheet on the backside will be super helpful, especially when the students are at home working on homework or studying, they will have a layout to refer back to. The second page lays out of the types of periodic table elements used (metals vs. nonmetals), further broken down into the type of cation involved (variable charges or not), and a list of tips for writing ionic formulas (reference to the criss-cross & reduce method - feel free to message me if you are unsure of what this is), covalent formulas, acid naming mnemonics, and how to identify Roman numerals. All of the tips that they use all year long that help them remember to become stronger in nomenclature.
