Students will read an excerpt from Tusk Everlasting and highlight adjectives. They will discuss how the use of descriptive words help to paint a picture of the setting. Students will then use the web to brainstorm words/phrases that describe their favorite place. Finally, students will use the web to write the first paragraph/beginning of a narrative essay. This is practice for using vivid words to write a narrative beginning. Students aren't expected to complete the essay, but focus on setting the stage for the story.
