This foldable book project I designed to use with my 6th and 7th grade English & Literature students to review and apply essential vocabulary for our literature studies throughout the year. These pages can be used separately for instruction on different story elements, or may be used together as a book project.
The booklet includes foldable pages for:
Characters (Protagonists and Antagonists)
Point-of-View (First-Person, Third-Person Limited, Third-Person Omniscient)
Types of Conflict (Internal: Man vs. Self, External: Man vs. Man, Man vs. Nature, Man vs. Society)
Plot Structure - 5 Stages of Plot: Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Dénouement (Resolution)
Each page incorporates some illustrating as well as writing. Many of the pages require the students to use proper paragraph format, and also to incorporate quotes from the text as support. I recommend including as a mini-lesson practicing how to quote and cite from a book using parenthetical in-text citations. Additionally, I required my students to fill in the blank space in-between the border line and the folding parts with illustrations (or, at the very least, color).
I printed the first and last pages on cardstock to make it sturdier, and we hole punched our booklets and bound them with metal rings so they could be hung from the ceiling in the hallway.
