Narrative language skills are essentially story telling and retelling skills. These skills are important for academic success Narrative language skills play into reading comprehension and listening comprehension. Children with language impairments often struggle with oral and written narration.
This unit is developed to help break down story grammar elements when creating stories It is recommended that narrative language elements be taught first when retelling stories before use of this unit.
This unit contains 5 worksheets to help students plan stories. These worksheets are broken down into “scenes.” The worksheets in this product will help students create story setup, conflict, challenge, climax and resolution.
While this unit can be used on its own, it is also designed to pair well with certain iPad apps for story creation, including ToonTastic, a free app available on the app store.
