Catching the Moon, by Crystal Hubbard is the inspirational true story of Marcenia Lyle - the first woman to play baseball in a men's professional baseball league.
Students love learning about real people and their stories of perseverance and triumph. Marcenia is a delightful role model. My fifth graders love her story!
This lesson is aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS) as well as Virginia SOLs.
