Take the mystery out of narrative writing! This narrative/story organizer and grade form is adaptable and appropriate for 5th-8th graders. Many students want to jump right to the conflict of a story, like this: "One day I slipped on a banana peel and broke my arm!" Students will spend time brainstorming and organizing before writing stories in a balanced three-paragraph format (beginning/exposition, middle/conflict, end/resolution). A simplified grade form is well suited to emerging writers, guiding them through the six traits of good writing while ensuring a grade they can be proud of.
