This two-page document provides you with two versions of a checklist that you can have the students complete as they read other students' essays. It allows them to not only read other essays, but puts some responsibility on their backs of looking for required components.
These checklists are to be used in combination with the narrative essay overview, grading rubric, brainstorming activities (2 options included), and the color writing instructions for the final day. If used together it will make up a 5-6 day body of work.
I have been teaching for fifteen years, and this is one of my most seamless lessons. It is easy to grade, while putting the proper emphasis on student writing.
