Writing just went to a whole new level. Seriously, folks, you can SUPERSIZE your writing instruction with this one engaging addition. I wanted to create a packet that not only worked on honing those upper elementary writing skills, but also tapped into a whole new arm of instruction - auditory processing. That’s when the idea of LISTEN AND WRITE came to me. Why not create a series of FUN activities that prepares students for testing, while engaging them throughout the entire process?
How does it work? Well, I teamed up with Ron Brown’s Intelli-Tunes to create a series of professionally recorded audio files. In this particular series, a story gets well under way, but is left unfinished. This is where the students role begins. Yep. You’ve got it. They finish the story. CLICK PREVIEW to hear a few samples.
This is no easy task! So many kids are not quite ready to rely solely on their listening skills. Therefore, we outlined oodles of different strategies and ideas to help introduce students to this new way of listening and responding. As your crew receives more practice with this format, teacher-guided supports can begin to fall away and the activities can become more student-driven. From adding outlandish endings to careful story planning, collaboration opportunities, and vocabulary challenges, this packet offers a little bit of everything.
**THIS PACKET INCLUDES SIX PROFESSIONALLY RECORDED STORY STARTERS AND RELATED LESSON PLANS!
We hope you enjoy.
**Non-fiction and paired passage packets coming SOON!!!!!!!!
