PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Ready to hook students into narrative writing and authentic peer feedback like never before? Play the game “two truths and a lie” with a narrative, storytelling twist!

Instead of merely SPEAKING their truths and lies, students write 3 narrative scenes that should fool the listener into believing they really happened. The directions coach students to write with realism, detail, and accuracy to trick their audiences.

Once written, the truths and lies are read aloud to small groups of peers in a bracket-style game that ends with a “winner” reading the truths and lies to the entire class (with the teacher breaking ties as necessary).

This EDITABLE 5-page download includes:

• Directions page: explains the writing task and the game itself
• Rubric: assess CCSS narrative standards
• Feedback Sheet: students collect peer feedback in disguise
• Game Scoring Sheet: students take notes during rounds
• Game Reflection Sheet: post-assessment in disguise, students reflect on the takeaways and purpose of the activity
