Gathering Ideas for Narrative Writing
At the beginning of the year my students often say, “I don’t know what to write about. I don’t have any ideas!”
Included are three lessons and activities with examples to teach students how to gather ideas for personal narrative writing when they can't think of anything to write about. I use these lessons as part of my writing workshop launch. I have used them in both third grade and sixth grade; I just vary my delivery depending on the grade.
Included in this product:
1. 3 detailed scripted lesson plans (gathering ideas based on people, places, and strong feelings).
2. Each lesson includes a sample writing piece based on the strategy in the lesson.
