Narrative writing graphic organizers helps students plan and write narrative stories. This set includes a sample story with completed Character Profile and Narrative Writing Graphic Organizer, which may be used as examples. Common Core Aligned for Grades 3-5.
-Character Profile: Student create a character, provide a physical description, distinguishing feature, list personality, list activities, describe who or what annoys their character, describe a fear and how it began, and give their character a catch phrase. (Completed profiles are attractive and may be hung in classroom or hallway.)
-Narrative Writing Graphic Organizer: Students select a main character, setting, supporting character, problem, three obstacles (rising action), and tie up loose ends by predicting and answering the reader questions (resolution).
-Narrative Writing Rubric: May be used by students as a self-assessment or by the teacher an assessment.
-Connect reading and writing by having students complete the Narrative Writing Graphic Organizer after reading a short story or watch a TV show. (TV show could be homework.)
