Personal Narrative Mini Book Writing Activity - A shopping experience: Looking for a cute little personal narrative writing activity? All Kids so shopping, right? Why not write about it....
(NOTE: Your students will need to cut out the mini pages to make the book)
My kids love mini books, and I am sure yours will too. If you keep a writer's workshop notebook, these little books can easily be stapled onto a page. At the end of the year, they will have a whole notebook on a variety of writing topics using all the different genres.
My little mini books are a means of helping trigger thoughts, as well as help kids organize their thoughts. They are basic, but they serve a great purpose. Plus, for some reason, having the product in a little book form just makes my sutdents want to write :-)
This mini book include 6 half pages with the following writing areas:
*list an item or items purchased at that store
*Who was with you on the shopping trip
*adjectives to describe how you felt on the shopping trip
*Attention grabbing sentence
*How the trip started
*Things that happened while shopping
*How the trip ended
* 4 mini writing pages for them to write their personal narrative
* extra writing pages can be copied if needed
IF the lines in the booklet are too close together for the younger writiers, use two lines to write the words.
Your students will enjoy sharing their writing mini books.
This will make a great little literacy center too.
