This is a set of mini-lessons to help students write a narrative. It is broken down into five "days." Each day could be used as practice for more experienced students, or as a mini-lesson with teacher guidance to introduce the ideas. These would also be great for sub plans during a narrative unit.
Topics include: establishing a detailed/vivid setting, using dialogue to reveal character's personality, using time transitions, and writing a conclusion. On day five, students write their own mini-narrative to show they have mastered these skills.
The mini-lessons include charts, fill-in-the-blank, paragraph writing, etc. All of them are engaging and high interest. There is an answer key where applicable, though most of the work does not have just one correct answer (as is the nature of writing).
