This nine-page packet focuses on the narrative writing process. The prompt provided asks students to take a personal experience with either a fixed mindset (negative outcome) or growth mindset (positive outcome) and tell the story of how the experience unfolded via a first person narrator with an internal (mindset) conflict. Standards addressed include W.11-12.3, W.11-12.5, W.11-12.6. It included learning targets at a Depth of Knowledge Level 3, a prompt, a model essay labeled to show students how to approach each part of the plot line, a content/story brainstorming sheet, a plot planning sheet, and a detailed plot line showing each of the parts of the plot with suggestions about what should be included for this particular prompt. Finally, a narrative writing rubric and a narrative writing self assessment and learning reflection are included at the end asking students to reflect upon the process by which they wrote, the strengths and weaknesses of their product.
