This is a great warm-up, sub plan, homework assignment, or mini-lesson about how to establish a vivid setting in narrative writing. The students read an example with details that appeal to the five senses. Then, they choose a setting from a list and write their own vivid description.
This is a simple but effective practice for students. It is ready to print and use right away, and gives students a quick practice for this important skill. It would be a great addition to an interactive notebook as well!
