This is a great activity to help students practice using transitions specific to narrative writing. I find that my students know how to use transitions in essays, but are less skilled in the appropriate transitions for a story. This practice gives an anchor chart that categorizes transitions with examples (great for future reference). Then students fill in the blanks in a narrative paragraph to practice using the transitions effectively.
This is simple, effective, and ready to print and use today in your classroom! It includes a sample answer key (though answers vary). It would be great for sub plans, a warm-up, or homework. It would be a great addition to an interactive notebook as well.
