Students really enjoy writing creatively, and sometimes it seems as though we are giving them less and less opportunities to do so. But who knows? Maybe we have a future bestseller in the back row. This is a fun writing activity that gives students a little more freedom because they get to select an image prompt from four provided pictures. Students are called on to use their knowledge of short story elements to really develop their stories. I use this prompt after we have read several short stories in class and after I feel confident in the students' grasp of short story elements. I am uploading this in Microsoft Word so that you may edit it to suit your needs. The images spark some really interesting stories. This is a great way to allow students to stretch those creative muscles.
