Your students will have a blast writing a progressive story! A progressive story is a story that one student will start, other students will work on, then the original student will finish.
This presentation is fully modeled and animated. It guides you and the students day by day for 9 days. I have included a modeled example of an engaging intro paragraph.
This presentation also reviews components of plot.
Common Core Standard Correlation: 5.W.3. Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, well-chosen details, and well-structured event sequences.
The benefits of a progressive story:
It’s fun! A lot of students may complain that writing is boring. This activity is in no way boring!
It focuses on sequencing. This type of story will naturally build on whatever the student before had written.
It can be modified in numbers of ways! You can make your prompt relate to your science or social studies lesson. You can require students to incorporate weekly vocabulary words in the story.
Plot will play an important role. Your students will have to focus on beginning, middle, end, as well as all components of plot!
